Balkan Mosaic: Mila Vocal Ensemble and Teofilovići

This collaborative recital will introduce Balkan traditional culture and music through songs, dances, and stories from Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Macedonia, and other Balkan countries.

Brothers Teofilovići, celebrated vocal duo visiting from Serbia will be joined by Mila Vocal Ensemble, Stephanie Arado (violin), and Maja Radovanlija (guitar).

Balkan Traditional Music Workshop with TeoFilovići and Mila Vocal Ensemble

Teofilovići (a cappella duo from Serbia) and Mila Vocal ensemble will present a workshop on Balkan traditional music. They will teach few easy songs and introduce the styles (odd meters, characteristic ornaments and other elements of Balkan music).


At the end of the workshop there will be a Q & A session with members of both ensembles. They will be joined my faculty member Maja Radovanlija (Guitar).


This workshop is open for all students, majors and non majors and community members interested in this style of World music.

Mila Vocal Ensemble in Concert

With breathtaking harmonies, Mila Vocal Ensemble nourishes the human spirit through songs collected from the folk traditions of Eastern Europe and Russia. This concert will highlight music from Mila’s two most recent study trips, including ancient hymns from the Republic of Georgia and songs about nature’s beauty from Bulgaria. Mila, an all women’s ensemble, is based in the Twin Cities and delighted to bring these works and more to a Duluth audience.

Admission is free; a collection plate will be available for those who wish to support Mila’s work.
